1.)For MSERS, Employees hired after January 1, 1979 contribute an additional 2% of any regular compensation in excess of $30,000 annually.
2.) For MTRS, Employees hired after January 1, 1979 (except those contributing 11%) contribute an additional 2% of any regular compensation in excess of $30,000 annually. Legislation enacted in fiscal 2000 established an alternative superannuation retirement benefit program for teachers hired on or after July 1, 2001 (and others who opt in) with an 11% contribution requirement for a minimum of five years. The contribution rate for most employees hired after April 1, 2012 will be reduced to 6% after 30 years of creditable service.
